Board of Christian Education

This board plans and supervises the general educational ministry of Good Shepherd toward the growth in faith, hope, and love of the God’s people of all ages. Under the guidance of its Chairperson, the Board seeks to staff, adequately fund and equip, maintain and promote such ministries as Sunday School, Bible Classes, Communion Preparation and Confirmation Classes, “New Parent Ministry” (“Cradle Roll”), Vacation Bible School, our Video and Church Libraries, and other educational opportunities that provide enrichment of Christ’s people’s faith and life, through the Word of God and the community of faith.

Chairperson: Laura Green

(Ephesians 4:11-13) “It was the Lord who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”

Sunday School

(Proverbs 22:6) “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.”

Disciple Classes (“Pastor’s Classes”)

A five week evening series of Disciples’ Classes (“Pastor’s Classes”), as part of the process toward membership at Good Shepherd for those interested in joining our congregation or for those who would like to learn more about the Lutheran Church, is held annually. The sessions are designed as informal opportunities for growth in faith, in knowledge, and in relationships. Comparison of different denominational backgrounds and perspective is encouraged, with an emphasis upon how Holy Scripture encourages believers to bind together in communities of faith for mutual enrichment, support, and for participation in ministry.
