Board of Christian Education

This board plans and supervises the general educational ministry of Good Shepherd toward the growth in faith, hope, and love of the God’s people of all ages. Under the guidance of its Chairperson, the Board seeks to staff, adequately fund and equip, maintain and promote such ministries as Sunday School, Bible Classes, Communion Preparation and Confirmation Classes, “New Parent Ministry”, our Video and Church Libraries, and other educational opportunities that provide enrichment of Christ’s people’s faith and life, through the Word of God and the community of faith.

(Ephesians 4:11-13) “It was the Lord who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”

AD2017 Children’s Christmas Celebration: “The Fourth Magi”

Based on “The Story of the other Wise Man” by Henry Van Dyke

Scripture states, “After Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, Magi came from the East to worship him.” (St. Matthew 3)

There is a legend or parable about a Fourth Magi, Artaban.

He searched as well for that new-born King.

But Artaban would walk a different path.

His is a story of the true meaning of Christmas for all people.                  It is a story of God’s grace, inspiring faith, hope, and love!

Beginning on Sept. 10th, 2017, our parish’s Sunday (10:30-11:15AM) Inter-generational Study Sessions will use “The Lutheran Hour Ministries” Video Series: “A Man Named Luther” –

Part I: “The Man”; Part II: “The Moment” and, Part III: “The Movement.”

This will be an ongoing, weekly opportunity at which you can take part and invite your family and friends!

Learn with others, not only about Luther but also of his theology and piety, his commitment to the Gospel and dedication to the Word of God and the Sacraments, his strengths and his weaknesses, life and ministry.

Grow with others in your understanding of Lutheranism’s history, Biblical and Confessional faith and practices.

These sessions will be an ideal opportunity to grow in our understandings of the Reformation then and now!
