Board of Fellowship

The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church seeks to strengthen the sense of community among us. With its Chairperson, this Board provides and enlists our membership into opportunities for initiating and maintaining in-depth personal relationships. It oversees such ministries as Table Fellowship (dinners, breakfasts, luncheons, picnics, “Sunday Hospitality”, etc.), Family, Senior Citizen, Couples, Intergenerational, Men’s and/or Ladies Fellowships, or other social gatherings or ongoing experiences which foster interaction and friendship.

Bach Vesper Service, Sunday, December 10, 2017

 

Bach: Johann Sebastian Bach was a German composer and musician of the Baroque period.

 

Vespers: A sunset evening prayer service in the Orthodox, Western, Eastern Catholic, Anglican and Lutheran liturgies. Also referred to as evening Prayer or evensong; an evening service.

 

Bach Vespers: A 50 year tradition at The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity in New York City.

 

“During the evening setting of Vespers, Bach’s music takes on a new life and renewed purpose inside Holy Trinity as it is accompanied by solemn procession, mystical chant, ancient text, and sacred architecture.”

 

An ensemble of professional musicians and singers perform a composition of JS Bach as part of this evening service.

 

Date: Sunday, December 10, 2017

Time: Bus trip leaving Good Shepherd at 1:30.  (School Bus provided by Quality Bus Service).

 

Itinerary: Bus trip to New York City, stopping a stop at Rockefeller Center, then regrouping and traveling to Holy Trinity for the 5 pm Vesper Service.  Service includes a performance of the “Magnificat”.

$7 per person for the Bus trip. Returning from NYC around 8 pm.

 

Intended Audience:  ALL MEMBERS OF GOOD SHEPHERD and YOUR INVITED GUESTS.

Exercise and Relaxation Class

(Kevin Lindenau, Coordinator/845-986-6772)

 

 A 10 week Program.  Led by Kevin Lindenau – 1 hour Class – (Classes may run over)

 

INTRODUCTION: If you’ve been feeling tight, stiff, stressed or anxious then this class might be just what you need! This class includes full body stretching, Single Movement exercises and guided relaxation.

 

The 1 hour program comprises of the following:

Stretching – 20 minutes

17 Step Stretching – Various Stretches

Chi Gong – 20 minutes

Qigong Exercise Routine – Various Exercises

Tai Chi – 20 minutes

Yang Style Short Form – Standard 24 Movement Form

 

Dates and Times:

Wednesday Nights 7pm – 8pm in the Fellowship Hall;

October 4th, 2017 thru December 13th, 2017

(*Note: There will be No class on Wed. Nov. 22nd, the night before Thanksgiving.)

 

Class Size is limited, Sign-up required on a First Come, First Served basis.

 

Note: Exercise Waiver and Release form required.

Hiking 2017 – Wallkill Bird Sanctuary
