Board of Youth
This board with its Chairperson seeks to serve with and for the benefit of the young people of our congregation, providing guidance and interactions that foster Christian growth in faith and love. It strives therefore to continually integrate young people into the mainstream of the Church’s mission and ministry at Good Shepherd and to develop and supervise specific and appropriate group experiences, such as Scouting, Junior and Senior High events, Groups, etc.
(1 Timothy 4:12) “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.
CHAIRPERSON: Kristina Heeren
“Youth Jazz Vespers”
(Kristina Heeren/Coordinator 845-596-2570)
On Sunday, November 5, 2017 all youth grades 5th– 12th are invited to join us for a trip into NYC to attend a jazz based vespers service at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 619 Lexington Ave, New York, NY 10022. We will be receiving a tour of the church where we will learn about all they do there and then we will be attending their “Jazz for All” vesper service which will include a
15-piece jazz band and modern dancers. The service is beautiful and modern with upbeat music and a Lutheran message. The church is a unique experience as the Sanctuary is 1-2 stories below street level and the church building is partially under a sky scraper. We will leave from Good Shepherd at 2pm and return approximately between 8-8:30 pm. There is a $5 fee for this trip to pay for the driver of the bus. Water will be provided but each child must bring their own snacks. There will be no eating on the bus. Only the youth are allowed on the bus, if parents or others would like to attend you are welcome to join us but you must provide your own transportation. If you are interested in reserving your seat on the bus please speak to Kristina Heeren or email email@example.com
(Colossians 1:9-12) “We have not stopped praying for you.
We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.”
We are looking for members to join our Youth Council here at Good Shepherd.
